Zva the little Mudi
It is a wonderful experience to know your dog from the day that she is born into the world. The most beautiful photo of Zva is her 1st photograph taken as a newborn pup with her mother Angel a blur in the background keeping a watchful eye. She appears slick and shiny with a pink nose. Her fur is wavy and short. With weekly photos and updates being sent to me by Celeste, by the time that Zva arrived at the Philadelphia Airport, I felt like I already knew her.
Zva weighed just six pounds when she came to us, but she was six pounds of energy, joy and happiness from the start. Her new big brother Mac, a 70 pound Australian Shepherd welcomed her with many kisses. Ironically, he is the dog who dislikes all other dogs except Ema, our Border Collie. Ema, on the other hand, welcomed Zva with sharp nose poke. This caused Zva to emit the loudest scream/bark that I have ever heard. She continued to yelp until everyone in the house was shaken. Welcome to our house Zva.
After battling parasites, bee stings, housebreaking, and making friends with Ema, Zva has happily become one of the pack.
A trip to the Outer Banks in July with Mac, Ema & Zva proved to be a wonderful experience. Zva loved the sand and would dig-dig-dig as fast as she could. Once she dug up a dead frog and carried it around in her mouth not allowing anyone to take it from her. When we took morning walks near the wild horses, Zva was always carrying something in her mouth; sticks, leaves, driftwood or whatever she could pick up. If it was too heavy to pick up, she would just drag it along. She didn’t bat an eye at the 11 hour drive due to heavy traffic. As a matter of fact she has grown to love riding in the car.
Zva has graduated from puppy classes, and is awaiting obedience and agility classes. She can run very fast and leaps like a deer. One of her greatest loves so far is water. She has a baby pool that she jumps in several times a day. Once in her pool, she leaps around in circles and roots in the water with her nose. Her fur is wonderful because it is usually dry in about 15 minutes, and she barely sheds at all. Zva’s fur went from short and wavy to long and curly. She has huge ears and big teeth but it works for her because she is a beauty.
To describe Zva in a few words, she is happy, playful, cautious, sensitive, loving, smart, joyful and hilarious. At times she is so funny it appears as though she is performing for us. She is very vocal and barks for the sheer joy of it. When she barks, it is like she is talking; running along saying, “isn’t this great?”
