Our Mudis
We currently have 3 Mudis, Angel, Chili and Fecske, kept at our home and we also co-own several males (Bikfic, Csoki, Merlin, Rajkó, Sobri) which are kept by the other co-owners in their homes.  We co-own males to assist with their development and promotion for use as studs and also for the breeding rights and privileges.  Developing quality males that can be used for studs is one of our goals as there are so few quality Mudi males available for breeding, even in Hungary.  We are working on developing a successful semen shipping program and hope that it will be a major step towards diversification of the Mudi gene pool around the world.

Hip Scores in Hungary
Currently there are 2 official orthopedic associations in Hungary, MKOE and FDB. They score hips with words and do not use the A,B,C system used in other FCI countries. You cannot presently match the Hungarian scores with the A,B,C system as they are not the same. You cannot match them with the OFA system used in the USA either as they are again not the same. After much research, what is important is not the score initially, but that it is considered to be a score recommended for breeding or not. Once the score is determined to be in the breedable range, then you choose which mates are best to breed with based upon the score. These are the scores of the two Hungarian Associations, their  translation and the meaning of the terms:

FDB - Breedable Scores                         MKOE - Breedable Scores
N = Normál (Normal)                              Mentes (Free from)
M = Majdnem normál (Almost normal)     Átmeneti (Transition)
E = Enyhe (Slight, Mild)                         Enyhe (Slight, Mild)

The Enyhe term is often translated as mild, but it can also be translated to slight as well. The most common translation of mild infers in other languages that the dog is symptomatically dysplastic and this is not the same thing as the meaning of the score. What these terms refer to is not actual disease, but the placement of the ball into the socket. Normál and Mentes mean the ball and socket do not deviate from each other. Majdnem normál and Átmeneti mean there is almost no deviation and Enyhe means there is a slight deviation. Disease occurs when there is a change in the surfaces of the ball and socket, not in their positioning. These scores reflect the position of the ball to the socket. Breeding dogs with slight/mild deviation from normal is absolutely acceptable, but it is recommended to breed these individuals to those with higher scores to try to improve the level of deviation in the offspring and this is the only time the exact score is taken into breeding consideration. We do not breed Enyhe to Enyhe for this reason. Please read the Hip Scoring in Hungary article on the Articles Page for more information. We will provide copies of all our dogs health, temperament and instinct test results upon request.
