WITH THE INFORMATION GIVEN ON THIS PAGE WE DO NOT STATE THAT ONLY WE KEEP AND BREED OUR DOGS AS THEY SHOULD BE. WE TELL YOU HOW WE KEEP OUR DOGS AND BREED THEM AND WHY WE THINK THAT THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT.
(We had to place the above statement to this page after several other Mudi breeders took offense to our opinions stated below and complained to the MEOE Ethical Committee.)
The Mudi is a rare breed even in Hungary, even so, many people breed them here and in several other countries. Obviously there is competition between the breeders and sometimes it is difficult for a buyer to find the right kennel. We love this breed and we see a lot of very sad examples of how irresponsible breeders, or more correctly, dog- multiplicators, ruin the work of the responsible breeders. Because of these irresponsible people, the reputation of the Mudi suffers - at the expense of the naive customers, the innocent dogs and the breed itself (it is amazing how fast a sparsely populated breed can be ruined by only a few poorly bred litters). Please read this page and think about the issues before you choose the breeder from whom you will buy your Mudi puppy.
Maybe we are not the closest kennel to your home...
Maybe our puppies are not the cheapest...
Maybe we will ask some questions from you and request that we speak together on the telephone before you purchase a Mudi puppy from us...
Maybe you will have to wait for a year or more to get a puppy from us...
But in comparison to many other "breeders" in Hungary and elsewhere in the world, we can assure you that:
- We pedigree every puppy born in our kennel with genuine FCI pedigrees which are accepted everywhere in the world. When you take your puppy home, it is microchipped and you get the pedigree immediately, you do not need to wait for it for another month, or forever...
- We guarantee that the parents of our puppies are the same as those who are on the puppy's pedigree (in other words, the data on the pedigree is valid).
- We breed only hip dysplasia checked Mudis (both parents!!) with breedable results, whose x-rays were evaluated by an official Hungarian orthopedic committee (FDB or MKOE). We can prove it with the official certificates. We do not give you excuses why we do not check our dogs hips and other joints, and we do not use various kinds of "certificates" or results obtained from private vets. When you are presented with something like these, or somebody breeds unchecked dogs, you can assume that something is not right with those dogs, or worse, the dog failed or the breeder does not care about health screening.
- We do not breed our Mudis before they are mature and never before they are health checked. We do not have "accidents", all of our breedings are planned. We never inbreed (no linebreeding either), as we think inbreeding is the grave digger of the dog breeds. We place great emphasis on herding instinct, good temperament, and correct breed appearance and we test as is possible (our owned and co- owned dogs are tested before being bred).
- We keep our Mudis as family members and we do not have lots of dogs running around the house or property (or some shack in the woods), and they are not kept in kennels. Our Mudis are our companions, well socialized sport and show dogs, they live inside of our home with us. We are not Mudi- collectors, who acquire more and more dogs, which are kept in miserable, dirty conditions, with minimal human contact and no beneficial purpose in their life.
- Our puppies are raised with love and extraordinary care, also within the human family and home. They are close to being housebroken when you take them home. They are not filthy, unsocialized souls, who are afraid of everything, or behave aggressively with other dogs or people.
- Our puppies do not leave our kennel before seven weeks of age. Before this they are already weaned, and eat solely solid food. We feed our adult Mudis and the puppies as well a raw diet, we do not feed factory made dog chow. We happily give you advice how to feed your dog the raw diet too.
- We keep in contact with our puppy buyers and happily help them if they need it. We place all of our puppies with a contract, but we do not issue dictatorial requests of our owners. We do not want to tell anybody, how to keep, show and breed the dog that they bought.
- We do not deal with heartless puppy traders or brokers, or internet puppy "stores" who buy any quality of puppy for the cheapest price from the breeders (or dog-multiplicators), and then sell them to naive buyers for a huge amount of money as high quality dogs. We do not deal with intermediaries either that 'help' sell puppies for breeders.
Some people will think these things we have mentioned are ridiculous, some will be hurt and others will ask why......YOU should also be asking why we had to write about these things, we wish we did not have the need to do it. We care enough to breed the best puppies we can so you can have the best puppy you want for your next companion. Be an informed buyer and you will not get an unfortunate surprise.
Please support quality Mudi breeding by buying from breeders that place emphasis on these issues. This is how YOU can make a difference in the way dogs are bred. Demand for only quality bred puppies will make a difference, but it has to come from the people that want a puppy.
