Our Excursions - Italy
We went to a CA Sharp canine
health and genetics conference in
October 2008 near Genoa, in a
small town called Ovada.  I have
known CA for years and her
guidance with the health and
genetic issues in the Mudi has
been irreplaceable.  As she was
as close to me as she might ever
be, it was an opportunity not
to be missed! We spent every
moment at the conference, but
after it was over we made two
trips to the Med, once at night
and again the next day.  This
trip was another unforgettable
experience!  Thanks Marula for
making it possible for us to come
and being such a great host!
We drove from Budapest, through Austria and into Italy.  We took Fecske and Angel with us.  Driving through the Alps is of course breathtaking.  With every few kilometers the scenery changes with one spectacular view after another.
Conferences are not all work. But what's that Péter has? It's not a Mudi!  Marula brought some of her Aussie pups to the conference for us to see and Péter found one that was especially fond of him.  Luckily this pup already had a home to go to or he may have been smuggled into our car to take home with us.
One night we took a ride to see the Mediterranean sea, just south of Genoa. The traffic was terrible, but the trip to see the sea at night was fun for us and the girls.  There was not much too see in the dark, but this only meant we would have to come back the next day.
We went back to the Med to have a daytime look the next day of course.  We took the scenic route this time through the hills and it was breathtaking but for a scary reason this time! The hills that separate the north of Genoa from the south are amazingly steep and the roads incredibly narrow! But look at the reward that awaits you after making such a treacherous drive!

Celeste, CA and Angel
Smoke signals from above and below
Conferences are so tiring
Look what I found
Uh oh it likes ears
Ohhh that tickles
I don't know which one is sweeter
Rock climbing in the dark
Fluid
Tailstorm
Before leaving for home, we drove down the coastline towards France.  We stopped in one of the last resort towns in Italy as the the Mudis wanted to see those funny looking trees and enjoy the tourist life in the Italian Riviera for just a bit longer!  I think we will have to take them back to the Med as they had such an enjoyable trip!  We thought it was pretty great too : )
Hmm Fecske how about some fresh crab for lunch
Brave man and his equally brave Mudis
Perched Angel
Its too windy up here for ears
Back on the rock but this time during the day
Camo merle
Big palms, small Mudis
Palm trees don't grow in Hungary : (
Can we take this tree home?
After investigating all the beautiful rock formations it was time for the girls to play in the waves. The water was so clean and a lovely aquamarine color and it was much warmer than we expected it to still be in late October, sadly we did not bring swim wear  for us : ( but the dogs always have theirs!
The sticks are easy to see in such clear water
That's a big wave
No wave can hide my stick for long
The ball floats too
Throw it, throw it!
We could not stay here forever, as tempting as it was, so we took some photos to remember what a beautiful place we found, but the real beauty was that we had this whole beach to enjoy just the four of us, for hours.  I guess the locals are bored of it and the tourists went home already, either way, it is a great time to visit this area.
I think Angel wants to stay longer
I want to play ball in the water, not pose for pictures on rocks
Not the place for a standard pose
Ok I can stand for a picture but hurry up
Ok men like multiple girls too
Where did my brave Mudis go?
What a place!
What a view it must be from up there
Italy is home to many famous artists and inspiration must be in the air or maybe the water!  When we got home we found these pictures which showed us what a great subject for art a Mudi can be, but the beautiful rocks and water were essential ingredients too.
Ohhh its not time to go yet, one more swim
A man and his dog
Stayyyyyy, earrrrrss, tonguesssss, good girls!
All the girls on this beach are his
For a woman, one Mudi is not enough
Larry (CA's husband) getting some pup time
Conference attendees
Yeah the sky was that blue!
The mountains almost swim
The near constant wind makes the trees grow sideways
